Since the 1920s at exactly 2000 hours, or 8:00 pm, every night the sound of the bugle can be heard in the Belgium town of Ypres.
Every night the local firemen play The Last Post under The Menin Gate as a salute to the many soldiers who fell during The Great War of 1914 – 1918.
It is without doubt one of the most moving moments that you can witness as you make your way along The Western Front, and recently I had the great pleasure to take part in the ceremony during a battlefield tour of The Ypres Salient and The Somme Battlefields.
