Matt Limb, the founder and CEO of Matt Limb Battlefield Tours, was made an OBE in the operational honours list for his support to the Iraq War.
Matt, Commanding Officer of a specialist Territorial Army regiment, 165 Port Regiment, was responsible for military port operations first in the United Kingdom and later in both Kuwait and Iraq. Along with his Regiment, Matt was compulsorily mobilised in January 2003.
‘… this is military history in its own right, we are the first regiment to be compulsorily mobilised for military operations since the outbreak of World War Two in 1939’
Following long working days in the UK the Regiment arrived in The Gulf as the temperature rocketed to a typical 40-plus degrees every day. When asked his most memorable and rewarding aspect of the tour Matt said ‘One of the most satisfying tasks during the tour was in helping to re-generate the port of Umm Qasar in southern Iraq and to see the final result as the local population benefited from the humanitarian supplies that started to arrive’
Matt attended his investiture with The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
