Walking battlefields can be very memorable, as can the many people we meet doing so; one such person is Nick Ragland, who we recently took on a battlefield tour of France and Belgium.
Nick, a retired United States Marine Corps Captain and a veteran of the Vietnam War back in the 1960s has for a long time had a great interest in World War One and The Western Front, so while in Paris on business, he booked a three-day tour of The Somme, Vimy Ridge and Ypres.
Nick commented:
‘ … I had a wonderful time on the battlefield tour with Matt and I sure learned a lot … he does a great job … walking the battlefields with Matt Limb is like walking Rome with Julius Caesar …’
For me, it was simply fascinating to sit and talk with someone who, many generations later in The Vietnam War, Nick endured the same feelings and comradeship as the soldiers of 1914 – 1918.
